Skiing the Alps is a scale beyond North American resort laps. Between unmanaged off-piste terrain, three thousand meter elevation swings, and multi-sector transit, your gear choices directly determine how much you actually ski. The Alps Gear Strategy

North American big mountain hubs normalize one hundred ten millimeter powder skis. In the Alps, wide powder skis are a liability. You will spend significant time on firm pistes, narrow village exits, and wind scoured glacier connectors in Zermatt, Chamonix, and the Dolomites. The optimal width is ninety five to one hundred two millimeters for all mountain skis.
